CT Screening Services:
Taking care of your body is important! When we get
sick it is easy to push ourselves to go to a doctor or get a test, but
this is not always true when we feel fine. Sometimes diseases though do
not cause us to feel sick until they have progressed to a point where it
is difficult to treat them or they cannot be treated at all.
Screening enhances detection of disease in the early stage and can
prolong life.
At Open High-Field MRI
and CT of Westchester, we are pleased to
announce that we can now help in detecting diseases earlier with several
screening programs available.*

CT-Complete Body Scan
The complete body scan is an ultra-fast, 3-D CT
scan of all of the major organs in the body from the head to the
pelvis. This includes imaging the brain, lungs, liver, pancreas, bowel,
and prostate or uterus and ovaries. After the CT scan is complete,
using our state-of-the-art Vital Images Work Station, the CT data is
analyzed and images are converted into 3-D reconstructions of the body
which better enables viewing of organs and identifying any diseases
which may be present.
Lung Screening CT
Lung Cancer is one of the most common forms of
cancer in the world and one of the deadliest. The earlier the cancer is
detected though the more treatment options are available and the better
the success rate is with these treatments. Using low dose, ultrafast,
3-D multislice CT, the lungs are imaged and cancers or nodules can be
detected as small as 2-3mm. Screening is very beneficial for smokers,
people exposed to asbestos, or environmental pollutants.

Heart Scan CT (Vitrea V-Score)
Coronary Artery Disease is the number cause of
morbidity and mortality in the US. There are many successful treatments
for this disorder, but the earlier the disease is detected the better
chance something can be done before a serious heart attack occurs. We
are pleased to offer Vitrea V-Score to help in this process. This is an
ultra fast CT exam of the heart and coronary arteries. The images
obtained are then sent to our state-of-the-art Vitrea Workstation which
then calculates how much calcium is present in the coronary arteries
(arteries of the heart). A calcium score is then assigned which allows
you to determine your risk of developing serious heart problems. A
complete graph and images are provided to you so that you may show them
to your primary physician and be treated appropriately.
An on-site Radiologist is available to discuss the
results with you and reports are generated within 24 hours.
To take part in one of these screening exams,
please call 914-833-9670 for an appointment.
*As of January 1, 2003 screening exams require a
prescription from a physician.
